VIRGINIA BEACH -- A training bomb fell off an F/A-18 Hornet as the aircraft was approaching Oceana Naval Air Station on Tuesday.
No one was injured in the incident, according to the Navy, but the inert bomb struck a wall next to a warehouse on the 1300 block of London Bridge Road at about 12:15 p.m.
Mike Maus, a spokesman for Naval Air Force Atlantic, said the Navy is investigating. He said the object caused little damage.
The bomb, called a BDU-48, weighs about 10 pounds.
The jet was returning from a training mission in Dare County, N.C., where the Navy has a bombing range. It landed safely at Oceana. A woman at the warehouse referred questions to the Navy.
