I received a belated holiday gift box today... from THE best friend of mine in the World. I was opening a few cards, perusing photos when I noticed a dark wool hat that was in a bag. Note said something like here's your father's Navy cap back(?!). I could only stare at the mildewed ribbon, and cry. This is THE only piece of his uniform I have left. I had his whole uniform, but a cowardly person stole it from my possession.
So, now you can see the ribbon is clean.

Don't remember the occasion that I lent it to her( her boyfriend was in the Navy working on submarines at the time). Some outfit. But again, she kept it safe!!!!!!! For thirty years! God bless her!
I was about twenty years old when my Dad gave it me. What a treasure.
