Topic: Military patch on parka

Hi all I wonder if you can help me, I want to identify the patch on an old military parka that I have. I will try my best to describe : It is a round patch gold circle and black background, then there is 3 symbols inside 1. A crown 2. A phoenix 3. A sword. Crown is Gold with blue and red. phoenix is black on gold with red beak and feet. Sword is Gold on blue.

Thanks in advance Marchant

It is an interesting patch, generally you can at least get the nationality from the design of the crown but in this case it becomes more confusing.

The crown is similar to a British design, the only British unit I can find that used a double headed eagle and the 3 pointed crown was the Mercurian regiment but that is where the similarities end.

The eagle itself is very continental European and mostly central and east European but with the crown it narrows it down to a state with royalty, personally I would be inclined to look at somewhere like Poland or the former Baltic states and the colour scheme to me looks eastern.
