Mercury News Wire Services

Colt David kicked a 26-yard field goal in overtime to lift No. 9 Louisiana State to a 23-20 victory over Mississippi on Saturday night in Baton Rouge, La.
JaMarcus Russell and Dwayne Bowe hooked up for touchdown pass on fourth-and-goal from the 5 with 14 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime.
LSU (9-2, 5-2 Southeastern) could have won after Bowe's touchdown, but Mississippi burst through the middle of the line and John Jerry blocked David's extra point.
Mississippi (3-8, 1-6) opened overtime on offense, but LSU's Daniel Francis forced Ole Miss quarterback Brent Schaeffer to fumble and Tyson Jackson recovered for the Tigers.
Arkansas 28, Mississippi State 14: Darren McFadden returned a kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown and Chris Houston scored on an 87-yard interception as the No. 5 Razorbacks beat the Bulldogs to win the Southeastern Conference Western Division title in Starkville, Miss.
The Bulldogs shut down McFadden and the high-powered Razorbacks offense at every turn, but defense and special teams carried Arkansas (10-1, 7-0) to the SEC title game against No. 3 Florida on Dec. 2 in Atlanta.
Mississippi State (3-8, 1-6) allowed McFadden to rush for 100 yards, but most of the yardage came on the team's final drive.
