Whispering Death

I like Nelson but due to recent historical doccuments I'm unconvinced as to whether Nelson's plan was a semi-impulsive gamble instead of a genious plan.

On the other hand, there are lots of other great admirals in history, some of which have already been brought up.

i think thats nearer the mark, but i don't think that should take anything away from him, many military leaders through history have trusted their instinct.

Napolean himself once said when reviewing the record of a colonel up for promotion to general and having been told how skilled the man was in strategy and tactics the emperor asked, "Yes, yes, but is he lucky?"

Luck still has a great deal to do with success. You can increase your odds with good plans and tactics, but in the end it's often a role of the dice. Nelson had the luck there's no doubt of that.
