BANTUL, Indonesia (Reuters) - Aid struggled to reach Indonesian quake victims on Sunday with many roads into the worst-hit areas gridlocked with convoys of trucks carrying volunteer relief workers and motorbikes laden with food.

This is an critical issue for Indonesia. Historically the source of all stability and moderation in Indonesia comes from Yogyakarta and the surrounding region. If this area does not get back on its feet it will have resounding repercussions for all of Southeast Asia.
