Ethnic Chinese, make up only 3% of Indonesia's population, have traditionally been made into scapegoats. When the rioting broke out in May, many Chinese shops and houses were looted and burned to the ground, and many Chinese people were raped or killed. this was one of darkest moments in human history.
send my great sorrow to victims who suffered in that tradegy.

Horrible things were done but the pictures of the women being assaulted with the bags on her head were from Timor and not Chinese. Most of the other rape pictures have already been debunked as they were grabbed from a porn tape published many years previous. Some are obvious fakes.
 
I don't know how to distinguish which one is real or fake. I just felt really sick and uncomfortable when I looked at them.
 
Aye, my wife was there when that happened and the stories she told me are far worse than anything in those pictures. This is what happens when governments use the "divide and conquer" method.
 
what happened in indonesia remind me what happened in Africa. some politicians used the trick of making people hate each other to stabilize their polical positions or grab political powers. I just wonder did anybody get the punishment after this tragedy.
 
There was some but it was a token. Not many victims or families of victims wanted to come forward. They were thoroughly terrorised. Most rape victims were raped by family members who were forced to do so at gunpoint by the mobs running unchecked in Jakarta in May of 1998. "Rape your daughter or I will kill your whole family, rape her myself and then kill her"... what is someone supposed to do? There is entirely too much ugliness in the world.

Far worse was done during the struggle for leadership following Suharto's ouster as Sukarno took over.
 
Holy wow...Real or fake, that's just sick and wrong. I agree Major Liability. This is why I and my sister sleep soundly...knowing there is a firearm in every room.
