I've eaten shepherds pie before, but I've never made it. I know that it's mainly meatloaf layered with mash potatoes on top. I'll have to look for a good recipe of it online and make it sometime. I remember how good it was..

Now that I did some research on Shepherd's Pie, I just learned that the English makes it with lamb, unlike the Americans who make it with beef. I found a link to a nice recipe. Tell me if it's similar to how you make it:
