Topic: CD and FDD drive problems...

My cd drives work, but when I insert a new disk, the labels won't change as to exactly what disk is in the drive (from My Computer).

My FDD drive is another problem altogether- the computer won't detect the dang thing and I don't know what make it is. Can someone help me or tell me to do about this?

You could try updating your divers for your CD-Rom, but it's a longshot. Sounds like a conflict rather than a hardware issue. The FDD may just have gone bad on you. That does happen occasionally. You can pick one up for about $5.

got the FDD drive fixed, but my comp went absolutely haywire trying to put in drivers for either the CDROM or the HDD. don't remember which, but I don't feel like reinstalling WinXP again.

That might be what it takes...unless you want to buy a new drive. Seems kinda expensive as compared to an OS install.
