An Indonesian military Lockheed C-130 crashed in east Java today and latest reports say the death toll is 78.
Local reports quote Indonesian military spokespeople as saying there were 98 passengers and 14 crew on board the C-130 which crashed in east Java earlier today as it was preparing to land at Iswahyudi airbase in Magetan regency approximately 160 kilometres from Yogyakarta.

The death toll has been rising, as more bodies are discovered, but the latest reports quote the military as saying 78 people were killed including five on the ground.
Pictures of the aircraft show that it crashed into a paddy field and low-rise brick buildings next to a forest. The aircraft, registration A-1325, is upside down with its tail intact but the main fuselage has been gutted by fire.
