GROZNY, March 8 (Itar-Tass) -- Separatist leader Aslan Maskhadov was killed in a special operation in the village of Tolstoy-Yurt, Chechnya, on Tuesday, representative of the regional headquarters for the anti-terrorist campaign in the North Caucasus Maj. Gen. Ilya Shabalkin said.
He said Maskhadov’s abettors – Irliskhanov, Nurbashev and Nurbashev’s nephew Vuskhan – were detained. They were hiding in a bunker under a Tolstoy-Yurt house.
Federal forces had no casualties in the operation
