1862 Battle of New Orleans: Afer a week of bombarding Forts Jackson & St. Phillips with out any obvious results, Adm. Farragut decides to run his fleet past them & press on to New Orleans. At 0300 5 large warships & 12 gunboats set out in 2 collumns. They sucsessfully run past the forts, with out either side doing much damage, except for the last 3 gunboats. It is light as they get in range of the forts & a shell hits the boiler of the lead ship of the trio sending it drifting back down stream & the other 2 turn back. North of the Forts the fleet engages a group of 12 Confederate gunboats & the ironclad ram CSS Manassas. The CS vessels are under three different Commands & quickly lose cohesion with the battle becoming a melee. All 13 CS vessels are lost with only the gunboat USS Varuna sunk by ramming.

1863 CS attack on the town of Cape Girardeau, Mo is repulsed. Union troops abandon Washington, N.C.
1864 Red River Campaign: The Union Army has been fleeing the advancing Confederates & the US Navy has been not only fleeing the Confederates, but the rapidly lowering water levels in the river. Confederates catch up to some of the Federal ships. The Ironclad USS Eastport, having been damaged & run aground on the 15th after hitting a torpedo, is destroyed to prevent capture. The Flagship, gunboat USS Cricket is severly mauled by artillery & musket fire, with the 50 man crew suffering 62% casualties & Adm. Porter personally manning the wheel before escaping. The unarmed pump boat Champion#3 is destroyed when a shell explodes her boiler, killing 90% of the 204 onboard, including her Captain.
