one question, i thought that some of these militias are havens for a variety of crazies (white supremacists etc), how are the militias policed? is it that common to have militias with questionable motive etc

Too often is the word "militia" associated with radical groups or domestic terrorists. The legitimate groups police themselves, but have to bear the scrutiny of a cynical society, who just plain don't know what they stand for. All society sees are the law-breaking, radical 1% who make all the news in the main-stream media, and don't see the majority of the groups who train in case of emergencies where local/state/federal govts can't provide necessary services like security, disaster relief, etc.

Are there crazies out there? Yes, you will find crazies in all walks of life, in every corner of the earth. Some crazies operate differently than others.

Can everyone be policed? No, there are too many spread out over too wide of an area to weed out all the bad apples from the bushel.

That's just about it right there.... Most police themselves because they're nothing but normal folks. Some are skin heads and such. But you can pretty much see those nutjobs from a mile away.

The word "Militia" has been hijacked by the media types for labeling crazy white skinhead type groups. I use the word militia simply has the word is supposed to be used.

Militia - An army or group composed of ordinary citizens rather than professional soldiers trained in the defense of local community and home.

There are @$$HOLES in every part of society. From the gas pumpers and burger flippers to the Special Forces Soldiers and Congressmen.

No, if you can afford one you can use it. The law is pretty much non-existent on the Militia subject. As long as people don't do stupid **** they can dress up and play GI Joe. Some states do have anti-militia laws and different gun laws. Hence why some folks have SKS Carbines and Mauser K98k Rifles.

That's a big IF when applied to affording a machine gun, low end weapons like mac-10s, oldish Uzis, etc, I've seen that go for no less than 3 grand, but mostly in the 5G area. I did smirk at an M2 .50 cal machine gun going for $52,000, C&R rated too. That would be a lovely package at your front door if you held a C&R license.../want!

A 4x4 with a modified sunroof with a rooftop LMG would be a fine addition to any militia.
