I agree 100%, if scaring a terrorist and casing them no real harm, keeps my men alive, then go for it.

Gunny if that was the extent of the 'torture', I would not disagree with you. The real problem, is that waterboarding is very very very painful when it is used. Is this something you would be in favor of, IF it were to be used on your own men and women? This is the very real consequences of us using torture to obtain information from others. It could end up being used against your own forces when someone wanted information your people have.

Let's face it, if we were using torture, and it was in turn used against us - we wouldn't have a moral leg to stand on when it came time to complain.

Would we?

Our captured soldiers have already been sliced up, burned alive, beheaded, and hung from bridges. We're not fighting Girl Scouts here, they have no problem with torturing a person to death. Waterboarding doesn't kill but sawing off limbs and heads does.

Isn't it dangerous enough .....

It is NOT the AlQaeda that concerns me (you could line them all up and execute them and I could care less) ... it is the other countries that could very well conclude it is okay to use torture to elicit a confession, when there is a crime being investigates and one of ours is a suspect ,that concerns me.

The fact that we ourselves use torture, would preclude the US from taking a moral stance against the any use of torture on our own people.

This is my very real concern ... it is dangerous enough out on the end of the sword, without adding to the danger our men and women face around the world.

Why should we do ANYTHING to add to their possible danger?
