Yudhoyono To Receive U.S. Defense Secretary Gates

JAKARTA (Antara)--President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to receive U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates at the Presidential Office on Monday.
Prior to the courtesy call by the U.S. Defense Secretary at around 2 p.m. local time, Yudhoyono would chair a limited cabinet meeting on Monday morning.
The Jakarta visit is part of Gates' nine-day trips to Australia, Indonesia, India and Turkey.
Earlier, Indonesian Defense Minister Juwono Sudarsono said that he and his U.S. counterpart would discuss issues among other things on maritime security in Southeast Asian region.
"We will discuss the regional maritime security, especially to support the economic development in Southeast Asia, and Indonesia in particular," Juwono said.
Indonesia and other member countries of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) have committed to protecting the maritime security and defense in ASEAN region, he said.
