JATO was the only form of assisted takeoff I've ever heard of.

I've heard of it a long time ago. Think it means Jet Assisted Take Off. I don't know if they still use it.

I know what JATO means......... what I meant was the other rockets added to the 130 in this experiment... did you watch the video?

Now I did. Didn't know of the experiment. Read a whole article of the rescue mission to Iran in Aviation Week though. Everything that could go wrong went wrong.

The C-130 is a nice plane to fly with. I once sat in the cockpit (as a guest) on a trip from Brussels to Southern France.
