Ying and Yang: Both Patriotic

A FEW DAYS BEFORE the annual air show, we can always expect an interesting variety of aircraft in the skies over the Houston-Pasadena area. One afternoon during rush hour, as I stopped for a red light at a crowded intersection, two Hueys passed overhead. The driver next to me, a businessman in a well-tailored suit, got out of his BMW to get a better look. Moments later he was joined by another man who had parked his motorcycle on the shoulder. The two men stood in the intersection, their hands raised in silent salute, as the helicopters made their way across our air space. When the traffic light changed, no one moved. As the Hueys disappeared in the distance, the two men turned to face each other and shook hands without uttering a word. The businessman got back into his BMW, and the biker climbed on his Harley. Only then did the rest of us head home.
