Alright he said
Alright he said
The bird is dead

No problem, cadences look a little off-kilter when you just write them down prose-like to people who have never heard them and don't know the rhythm. It's a good one though.

Haha during football practice I became the unofficial run leader (cause I'm the long distance runner) and I would be teaching the team running cadences as we went. It was cool cause then we all started making up our own. Ah I miss football...

Another just slightly different version is what I remember. It went like this:

A little bird
With a yellow bill
Was sitting on
My window sill
I coaxed him in
With a piece of bread
And then I crushed
His f***ing head

 We ain't allowed to cuss in the Army no more.

Just kidding, but the DSs just about had an accident when I tried to lead my platoon in:

I lured him in

And then I smashed

we use that cadence all the time here, its a regular staple, but El Paso is right here on the mexican border, drugs are prolly a major part of the cities economy...

Yellow Bird

I just got back from Infantry OSUT in Ft. Benning and our yellow bird song was a little bit more vulgar :salute:. I did have a question. I have been wondering about a cadence we only sang a few times and I really wish I knew the whole thing. I know part of it goes " so early, so early, so, early in the morning" then another part says "but I was so anxious so eager to go so early, so early, so early on that morning." If anyone knows this cadence I would greatly appricate it!!!

It might be hail hail rock 'n roll... It starts out
Hail Hail Rock ‘n Roll
The sound of my motor was loud an bold
And I was always ready to go
So early in the mornin’

My DS Changed it, so maybe yours did too.

Here's an extension to A Yellow Bird that I remember:

The prettiest girl I ever saw
Was sippin' bourbon through a straw
Her hair was blond
Her eyes were green
The prettiest girl I ever seen

So I walked right up
I sat right down
And then I bought
Another round

I placed my hand
Upon her knee
She said GI
You're teasing me

I placed my hand
Upon her thigh
She said GI
Don't go to high

The wedding was
A beautiful one
Her father had
A big shotgun

Now I have
A mother in law
And fourteen kids
Who call me Pa

The moral of
The story here
Instead of bourbon
Stick with beer

Yellow bird

This is how I heard the Yellow Bird Cadence

A yellow bird
With a yellow bill
Was sitting on
My window seal
I lured him in
With a piece of bread
And then I squished
His little head
Oh look at me
I'm such a clutz
I missed his head
And hit his nuts
Oh look at me
I'm such a clutz
I----Missed---- His---- Head
And…. (stomp) hit his nuts

A little mouse
With little feet
Was sitting on
My toilet seat
I pushed him in
And flushed him down
His little feet
Went round and round
I pushed him in
And flushed him down
His--- little --- feet
Went….. (stomp) round and round
