Slow down there a bit, take your time.

You should not call it wrlds best soldier. A general said that soldiers go out and try to fight for freedom. But all a soldier does is get killd. I don't know about you but I don't think this general was ever an enlisted man. A soldier fight his heart out until the end.

Well it is a bit easier to figure out what you're saying when you take the time to spell half your words.

If you are looking back in history, I would probably say pre-medieval the Vikings, next would be the Scots (even though they got their butts kicked most of the time), then the Saracens (kicked Crusaders butt), but Knights Templar were the extreme. More modern, US soldiers, when not fighting amongst themselves. Just about every war/conflict in the last 250 years Americans have had the upper hand.

I also believe that a soldier is only as good as the cause he is fighting for, no matter what country he/she is from...........

The Vikings were terrible soldiers. Ina skirmish it was not unusual for them to be in such a rage that they would kill many of their own just trying to get at the enemy. There is no excuse for friendly fire back then. The Scots however were never defeated to my knowledge, well at least by the Romans anyways. The English were defeated many times though.

Well for "terrible soldiers" they sure were successful. The vikings made incursions all the way to Greece and northern India, securing trade routes that connected the continent of Europe. They swept down the Seine River and laid waste to Paris and the rest of France, eventually gaining control over the entire region (ever wonder where the term "Norman" comes from?), as well as making life a living hell on the coastal regions of Britain, along with the banks of the Thames River. The were also so highly thought of for their abilities that the Russians invited them to take their throne (I believe it was known as Muscovy back then), and the word "Rus" in Russian means "Northmen," and at the time was used to refer to the Scandinavians.

For a very loosely united , clannish force that spent half their time trying to conquer each other, I'd say that's pretty good soldiering.
