74 of those 8000+ who took the placebo developed HIV/AIDS, and of the group who took the drug 51 of 8000+ were infected. a grand total of 125 infections in 16,000 participants, infection rates of 0.925% and 0.637%

In such a large sample a difference of 0.288% is hardly anything to get excited about when one takes into account the randomness of the participants sexual activity.
