Woman Tries to Use Pen in Failed Robbery

60 year old female bank robber ...........

My hometown (Midland, MI), has been the site of a series of bank robberies (three as a matter of fact), and the robber was identified as a woman. She threatened to set off a bomb that was 'against' the bank building at one of the bank branches ... at another, she said she had a gun ... at one of the banks she was seen in an old model Honda having no plates, and at another bank she was seen leaving the scene driving a "rust" colored car.

One of our female cops was making normal neighborhood rounds, and spotted what she identified as the vehicle that was spotted leaving the scene(s) of the robberies. When the police served a warrant, they found evidence pertaining to the robberies in the home. Come to find out, the lady (that was arrested for the robberies), was a 60 year old lady. She has been charged and arraigned on the charges and is now a guest at our local jail awaiting her trial (not sure about bonding out at this time - she has a criminal record - minor offenses [check kiting amongst them]).

We are still trying to figure out what would possess a 60 year old lady to rob a bank - ANY IDEAS?

She is NOT poor or indigent.

UPDATE: ( 1/2/08 ) Bond has been set at one million dollars ... the accused is still residing in our local jail .
