Care to define Europe?

To me it is an area comprising many countries which has a total population maybe 4 times that of the USA some of which are somewhat backward and pretty much run by organised crime and over the last 70 have been run by dictatorships.

Can you perhaps indicate a single european country that has statisic's based on a per capita model that is worse than the US as that would be a little more realistic.

Sure thing, hoss. Here you go. There are 47 countries and areas comprising Europe.

http://www.un.org/esa/population/publications/migration/europe.pdf
http://www.unhabitat.org/habrdd/trends/europe.html

"In the year 2000, the total population of the Europe will reach its peak accounting for 729.3 million, of whom 306.6 million in Eastern Europe, 93.7 million in North Europe. 144.8 in Southern Europe, and 184 million in Western Europe. The annual rate of population growth in Europe declined from 0.44% to 0.16% between 1985-1990 and 1990-l995 and is projected to reduce to 0.03% during 1995-2000. After the year 2000, annual rate of total population growth will be negative and continue to decline from -0.08% during 2000-05 to -0.24 during 2020-25."

America now has a population of 355 million which is roughly half of Europe, not 1/4 of it, learn a little more about your world.

Once again, Ace, you have entered a nonsensical post. You're going for a record.

Hmm thats odd the CIA world fact sheet puts the USA at 298 million ( 298,444,215 (July 2006 est.) so hows this for a deal you learn about your country and I will work on the rest of the world) and the European Union at 456 million (456,953,258 (July 2006 est.)) now given that the EU doesnt include a lot of eastern european countries I figured there was probably at least a couple of hundred million there but it was only a guess.

But either way populations are more or less irrelevant if you are prepared give us stats on a per-capita basis hence the reason asked.

Incidently I did say "maybe 4 times" that doesnt indicate accuracy, it was a guess nothing more and I think in the original draft I put 2-4 times.

As far as Ace's post goes there is nothing nonsensical about it he is simply stating that statisic's will tell you what ever you want them to tell you.

Remember, this estimating population is done by census, not a head count.

Yeah, it is since this is still June. You just earned the Doofus award for 2006. Congrats.

America is a very large country. China is the same size as us and they have 4 times the population. I'm not worried about running out of food or anything, but it's the fact that americans leave the largest ecological footprint per capita on earth that worries me. You can throw around an extra few ten million here and there and it won't be a problem considering how many people are already living here. I don't think that the population will increase past the 350 million mark in the next 50 years. I might be wrong but demographic growth is hard to predict, but it's growing slowy.

But yeah, Europe is diverse and there's not a really good statistic overall for them except they're white people to varying degrees. I think there's 450 million of them or something on the continent.

Here ya go I will let you take it up with the CIA.

But man if I am a "doofus" for quoting them I wonder what it makes the CIA for stating it?

Incidently in their defence I think you have missed the "est." bit, however I am sure you are aware that "estimated" is something used when projecting forward.

19% of people believe statistics can be used to obtain valuable information.

No disrespect, i realize there's other colors out there but the vast majority still has that pale skin thing going on. I did say europe was diverse.

West europe is Ok, but the east really has to get it's act together in soon in terms of better govt. I think the EU will probably make it a law to ban guns in all member states and i doubt few countries would oppose it. I'm assuming this based on the gun control laws in different countries already being placed and thus gaining popularity in the gang riddled east.

No doubt. As far as "race" goes, Europe is less diverse than the USA. However I myself was surprised when I stayed at a cousin's place in Brussels, which was in a neighborhood where more than 50% of people were black.

Yeah most people I know are for strict gun control. Southern Italy is also quite gang riddled. I was near a driveby on a shopping mall's parking lot in Pompeii (near Naples) 16 years ago (I was 5). Heard some gunshots, and a car driving off with screeching tyres and someone holding a gun outside the window. The next day the paper said that some camorra (Naples region version of the mafia) guy had been murdered. That was the closest I ever came to gang warfare :D

I was in the middle of a drive by when I was Alaska. I was about 7-8 at the time and I hid behind the car door until it ended. Whats really crazy is that a bullet peirced the metal skin of the car but the lining stopped the bullet... I was behind that door =/.

I also remember last year me and my dad were driving around somewhere up in Alaska, I forgot exactly I think we were at a mall. Well anyways the truck infront of us had the read window shot out, pellets peirced the tail gate, the passenger and driver seats and put holes in the guys winshield. The driver was driving around like nothing happened.

I don't really understand why that was necessary...

I could understand (not agree with) why people would wanna remove guns. But why burn pics of them? I agree it makes no sense.

That's mental dude!

Most leftists, such as myself, don't advocate the ban of firearms, but rather their regulation. I just want there to be mandatory background checks and waiting periods, that's about it. Ifully intend on owning a gun someday, and I am willing to go through a background check to get it.

There's a report that the number of gun shops went down over 60% since the 90s because of very stringent regulation. I think it's safe to say that the legitimate gun sellers aren't selling to criminals, they'd get closed down immediately. I say we should regulate the gun producers so that they know who they're selling it to and perform tight background checks.

It's one step at a time and eventually most states will ban guns for civilian use. I can see some states like texas and wyoming leaving it open, but a lot of places aren't going to see the point of letting citizens keep guns. Our police force is sufficient and i've never seen the need to own a gun in an urban and suburban area. Europe came to this conclusion long ago, they're doing just fine.

Strange, a communist that wants to be armed. Look at your nations of socialism.

Cuba
USSR
Vietnam
Red China
North Korea

Not a single person can legally own a firearm for self defense to protect themselves from something like a criminal to a unjust government.

The 2nd Amendment isn't about hunting folks. It's about defense from unjust people and unjust governments.

Have a nice day.

PS - I hold a Federal Firearms License. I'm a gun smith and a collector. I need that license for my gun smithing business and that I approve of. It's a business and I do want government (TINY) regulation to some degree in business because I don't want scumbags ruining the chance for my business to succed. But I believe that you do not need a license to own and carry a firearm. How ever many you want.
