Why do we care so much?

A Can of Man

Je suis aware
Guys... I'm just curious about this thing about politics.
Why do we care so much?
Don't we have people who get paid to give a sh*t, argue and get angry over politics?
And the truth is, I don't even think politicians TRULY have as much power as they try to show us. The guys with power are the guys with the $$$. The guy who can buy or rent the head official of a certain political area (county, province, what have you), the guys who can buy or rent the best sharpshooter in the world.
So the question is, why do we care so much?

Because people like to be right, and when people say that they're wrong, they'll fight to the bitter end. People enjoy arguing politics because there isn't a right answer most of the time, there is one view, and there is another, no one is right, no one is wrong. So guys can just fight tooth and nail and NEVER be proved wrong.

Politics are just the same as religion. There is no right and wrong. Just different views. I'm simply correct because it's not about right versus left it's about right versus wrong..... Just kidding. It's all opinion and there is no correct answer.

I hate liberals, socialists, communists, marxists, and defeatists. Does that mean that I am correct? No.... it just means that I have my views (which I believe are right) and others have theirs.

In the end.... this is just like religion. The argument will never end until we has a species are wiped off the face of the Earth.

Why do we care about our children? Because they control the future of this great nation. Same with politics. We're electing the guys who will either run this country into the ground, or bring it to greater glory.

So, I care. A lot. I know a lot of people my age who don't, and I think it's repulsive. I consider the 60s, with hippies, Nixon supporters, and groups like the Weather Undergound and the Black Panthers much better than the modern era. At least back then youths actually cared.

I care because the decisions made by the winner will affect me personally, along with the rest of the world because we are the superpower.

Sad thing is, how much difference can it make? I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm voting and all, you know I'm active in politics. But if it got down to it, one persons vote isn't going to matter if it's not what the "majority" wants.

That's what most of them think... which is just dumb.

my response to them:
If you don't want to vote, go live in China, or Saudi Arabia, or Cuba. Lemme know how much you like it.

You can go vote, but what's going to happen is going to happen.

Truth is... I think we give a damn this much partly because of the baiting the media does to get our attention. They know that when we feel a value of ours is threatened, or in danger, we'll start paying attention and get all defensive and stuff.
"Hey, did you hear that THESE people want THIS certain law changed?" And all of a sudden your eyes are glued to the TV on the NEWS of all things for a lot longer than it should.
Supply... demand. Except they know how to get a reaction out of us.
Go vote. I'm not against that. But really, whoever it is that is running the country doesn't have THAT big of a bearing to warrant us to argue about the damned thing on the street etc. There are others who do the more serious running and influencing.

I agree with 5.56.
Plus, who's in charge does matter, not necessarily the folks with the money. If certain folks get elected, folks with money get punished for being successful. Pretty clear to me who ought to be in office.

Or if certain people get elected, the 2% who hit it rich get it all while the rest of us starve.

Pretty clear to me... ah well you get the picture.
