Hi,

Quote:
And to make it relevant to this thread, China has one advantage over India in that China has one official language (the Han language) that most ethnic Chinese of all over the world understand. While in India, as I understand it, they have so many different languages. That may have hindered its development, despite its common use of English.
i fail to understand that concept entirely...............yes India is a prime model of a country which had a varied diverse cultural people living ............has more than 5000 languages and dialects spoken in India....................But Hindi is the language that binds us together ............Hindi is our National language, not English............english is not the language of communication in India..............English is not the language of communication of the general public.........................and no it doesn't hinder any kind of development...............ever heard of federal structure..................but still i can go and communicate in any part of india.

India has very litle hydroelectric power capability because of its large population living near the ganges river and that building dams on the hilmlalys is very hard
When i was studying in 6 th standard of my school .......... i learned in my geography class that building dams in mountain areas are much much more easier than plain areas:P .....................and to confirn this more than 70 % of all dams are in hilly region in India..................and a huge iniciative has been taken and at least 30 Big hydroelectric projects are in progress simultaneously in the Himalayan state of Himanchal pradesh at this very moment.

Building dam in Hilly areas you just have to find a good spot .............two walls are already there you just have to build a single wall in front and the people displacement is Very less .............and in India that people displaced are of huge concern you just can't order people to move out................you will have to face all those law suits and it will take years..................it's more of rad tape that hinders it's development .

Quote:
their main sourse of power is probaly the coal-powered plants, they probaly have nuclear(i dont know, need source) which is unstalbe
Coal -Powered plants ..............what if yo have missed it this is 21st century already ..............yes Coal is abundent in India and accounts for aboout for 60 percent of primary energy consumption.........But no we don't have much Coal power plants left anymore.............and nuclear Energy is not de-stable.

Another thing that goes in Indias favour here is it's relationship with the Arab world.................most of th people have the notion that due to Indo-Pak Conflict India's realtion with the rest of teh muslim countries is not good................it entirly contarst this ..................most of the Arab counties have a very good biletral realtion with India.............and they produce Oil and natural Gas ................Like Saudi Arabia has been pushing India to accept a Gas pipline.

I think the slow development has more to do with organization than anything else.
I call that thing RED TAPEISM that has lot to do in hindering progress.

Quote:
I feel pity to say, China is NOT true socialisme anymore, Sweden in general is well.
And somemone said soemthing about socailism ..............well the indian constutiton says India is a Socialist Country .........the first line of it says ............"I here By declare India a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC..

My Conclusion:

The difference between is --------Chinece govt. asks people "Evacuate this land we are going to build a Dam here , e are going to give you land elsewere"

Everyboby oblisese, or should i say has to ablise.........land evacuated

India Government asks some people to evacuate with the same line "Evacuate this land we are going to build a Dam here , e are going to give you land elsewere"

people responce: wo the hell are you ask us to leave ya Mudda Fukka .............i am not gonna leave this i make you .........a pepetion filed in coart **Boom** 5 years the case goes on .................and on ................and on ................welcome to democracy

-=Cheers=-

Mate, I really agree with this

The thing is: at the beginning, you gotta to have a kinda "dictatorship" to rule for some 30 years, after getting a bit "rich" then start democracy, check all those tigers in Asia: Korea, Taiwan, Singapore etc, they were all first under "dictatorships" for many years, Japan too, under command of USA.

This is true. You need focus, and a kick start to actually start a democracy. Most countries do not have the luxury that the US had in having no REAL enemies when starting their democracy.

Hmmm, let's see, enemies of America in 1775.
British Empire- Most powerful nation on the planet at the time.
Spanish Empire- Not much of an enemy yet, but within a few years disputes would rise.
Indian Tribes- Yeah, thousands of Indians scalping Americans in repreated wars between the Americans and Indians.
North vs. South- Right after the Revolution the North and South were already arguing over slavery, South Caronlina even threatened to break away from the Union, South Carolina Militia and the United States Army were poised for war.

And I bet India would have a much smaller population too, and not through birth control methods.

Brits and Spanish were enemies but only occasionally were they direct threats. The problem is strategic reach and also eventually the diversion of the Napoleonic War.

For the most of the other countries, strategic reach is never a problem with its enemies.

but us wars often boosted their economy even more due to advance technolog brought from war and the booming induastry to support war, us also had alot of smart people from europe who hated ignorant rulers

which is why the yankee states boasted most of the population, industyr, economy and wealth ( damn, it should've been kept that way )
