You want to call someone a liar then prove it is a lie.

Great, we have someone from a foreign country who does not live in the US telling how it is. Sounds like country bashing to me.

Yes, and that is why i have my own opinion, I feel that it's "healthy"

I dunno what you are on, but I guess I missed the part where it says that i could not comment. I was of the opinion that, that is the reason the thread was started, so forum members could have their say???

What arrangements would you like to see? You condemn without offering a solution.
Give me a six figure salary, a budget that looks like the a Chinese telephone number, a staff of several dozen lackies and a big flash office in some beautifully appointed government building and I'll gladly offer you any amount of "solutions"

"People with closed minds on subjects like this should never qualify for jury duty,... that doesn't leave many who would qualify."

That is why there is a jury selection system. It is also why on my last jury duty, it took three days to select a jury for a trial that took 1 1/2 days to present the evidence.
And you know that the system worked faultlessly?

Quote:
"I certainly wouldn't qualify, as I have almost no faith in many of our laws,"
Quote:
You might not as the selection system seems to do a fair job of weeding out people who can't be impartial and fair to the defendant.
It is a pity you live in a country with system you don't believe in or support.
I never said I don't support my country, I volunteered to go to war and fight for my country. There is a great difference between supporting my country, and agreeing with it's judiciary.
I'm damned certain i would not qualify, I would disqualify myself, not wishing to waste their time or mine. Which brings to mind the case of a lady here in my home state several years ago who tried to do the same,... she was threatened by court officials with being charged under some obscure Act for refusing to do her jury duty. It only came to light after the whole case was re judged and the accused set free.
Quote:
You seem to indicate here you could not be fair and impartial, I am kind of surprised you even inserted the word "alleged" in your statement.
I'm bloody certain that I would not be impartial. I am a human being and I have my own set of values which do not always agree with the "Law". The law per se may be great, but from what I read in the papers, those who implement it, are often fools.

One of the very things that casts doubt on your argument for me, is that you say that you have previously been selected for Jury duty,.... and yet here in this thread, you fail to show the least sign of "impartiality", something i would have thought was expected among jury members. I'd say they certainly got it wrong when they selected you.......

I will send a copy of my jury service certificate to Redleg in a PM. He can decide if that is sufficient to show service. I will ask him to notify you. Then I will demand a public apology or request you be suspended for calling someone a liar.

The courts give the certificates so that you can prove that you were on jury duty. Your employer is not legally allowed to fire you because you were gone on jury duty.

Fair enough?

Hehe I have to agree, I havent run into an American yet that did not find jury duty a pain and had even less of a positive opinion once they had been messed around by the selection process.

Ahhh,.. Touchy, touchy,... eh?....
Read my post again, very, very carefully,.... bearing in mind my previous warning about reading things into it that just are not there.

Nowhere did I accuse you of lying, in fact mt point would be null and void if I did...... What I said was, that the system you allege is foolproof or as near as possible to it, obviously failed when they chose you as an impartial person.

I think the truth is, that the stupidity of your view has just hit home with my last statement, and you are miffed, having no other recourse you attempt to distort the truth. Impartiality again????

Jury duty is similar to voting. Something that may take a little effort, but people do it anyway. As Americans we like to complain but still do it anyway. A lot of Americans didn't want to enter WWII and complained, but when push came to shove are fathers got the job done.

I did the jury duty, I never said I liked it. It is a civic duty. Keeping the certificate is one way to ensure I don't have to go for at least one year from the date on the certificate. And it only ended 10/27/2009.

Whether your implication is enough to justify having to apologize for is not up to me. Redleg has the proof I offered, it is now up to him.

You bloody big baby,... you can't deny my point, so you have an attack of the sulks,.... How old are you??

Believe me,.... there's no way I will apologise for your crass stupidity and lack of intestinal fortitude. I'd rather cop a ban than bow down to a childish attention seeker like you are proving to be. Now I will await Redleg's decision without further comment lest I start really telling you what I think of your childish temper tantrums.

Just saying it's contrary to what I've heard. And apparently others as well.

I actually lived longer in the United States than in South Korea before I went back for military service. And I know a heck of a lot more Americans than I do know Koreans for that matter. Country bashing? Nice try. I guess I bash America so much that the likes of Zastava Arms accuses me of being an America-centric bigot. Yeah, racist in favor of the United States (if that's supposed to make sense).

Whatever.
Whatever my ass.
