Why did Japan attack the US?

Although their are absolutes such as in some cases of right and wrong. I would agree with you on this. We often get the partial viewpoint and not the total viewpoint which is difficult to achieve since historians and military leaders often conflict with one another.

I am not sure I agree I think it is possible to get accurate viewpoints about WW2 now more so than ever because we have the benefit of time, we no longer see the Germans or Japanese in the same light we saw them 40, 50, 60 or 70 years ago therefore we by nature become somewhat more open minded.

The problem is breaking the indoctrination that was built during the war, encouraged post war and time is doing that for us.

The main thing is that in all instances the truth lies on a line between the two parties concerned it is rarely in the centre and almost never at either end.
