What is your favorite WW2 planes?

Fox

Can you hear me now?
What is your favorite WW2 planes. Bomber or Fighter or any plane that are involved with World War 2.

Mine would be P-51 Mustang and Spitfire.

The Mosquito, the fastest Prop plane for years during WW2, as a fighter Io was deadly, as night night fighter it was great, as medium bomber it was fantastic, and it also did a great job on photo reconnaissance

I have to go along with that, and add its little brother intended for Tiger Force in the expected invasion of Japan - the dH Hornet http://www.fliteskin.com/horn20x3.jpg

Mind you, if you want the opinion of probably the greatest practical aviation expert of the 20th Century, take a look at http://www.buscinfo.com/EZ-PhotoAlbum/Album11_20Acft/20_Best_Aircraft_1930s_to_1970s.html

Both out dated before WW2 even began.

Well...arguably. They had been around for a long time but many historians argue the Hurricane was nearly as good as the Spitfire. Not as good of course, but they do believe it could still do many things the Spitfire could. And of course we musn't forget it was actually the Hurricane that won the Battle of Britain not the Spitfire....mainly because there were more of them at the time.

No arguments from me, I just find it ironic that the two outstanding fighters of WW2 were out dated before the war even started.

The fighters were good, but the pilots were even better.
A hammer is just a hammer. While you and I might be lucky to build a birdhouse with only a few thumps on our thumbs, a professional carpenter can use it to make a mansion.
