What is YOUR favorite martial art?

Mine is judo 8) Because it can be usefull in combat aswell as at a wedding :D

Tell us whats your and why?

Id have to say judo also...judo is a defensive type of art, and i would only want to use it to disuade the attacker, not put my hand in his adominal area and pull out his spleen (this is just sarcasim, i dont think you can de-spleen someone..or can you?)

Can you imagine what the posts would be like..if you switched the location of the i in martial arts? (marital...lol)

Mine's Jiu-jitsu. ( not sure that's the way to spell it in English)
Judo is a compatition form of Jiu-jitsu. Jiu jitsu is more all-round.

judo is from jujistsu jigoro kano the founder judo learned jujistsu and didnt like the violence and he prooved that judo was superior to jujistsu when the best judo fighter in japan defeated the son of gracie the founder of brazilian jujistsu...but dont get me wrong i dont wanan face a jujistsu master lol

Any form of martial arts from China and Japan. There are too many to list and i cant spell them all in English. I want to try all the arts, but i have yet to fit it in my schedule. ;)

One win is not "proof" in my book.

At least I thought it was funny.....
:(
well...... it isn't completely not-funny
No I'm sorry, don't cry. No, please don't. No.... Okay..okay...okay it was funny. Very funny. It was hilarious. I wanted to reply yesterday, but I was to busy laughing. Did I mention it was funny? ;)
:D

Awww, now that's more like it!
I knew I could count on you, 1217, just let me wipe away my tears here....

On-topic, any of you all ever do any grappling? I've found it pretty useful (had to use it to restrain a patient in the ER one time who'd shot a little too much funny juice into his bloodstream  , good times, son of a gun wanted to sue me and the hospital when he sobered up, too  ).

Being in S.B and all - this wasn't at The Cottage, was it? I got to see some funny stuff doing my walk through there. A lawyer attached to every patient.

Muay Thai is almost certainly one of the best striking arts available, using SENSIBLE strikes using hands, elbows, knees, head, shins and feet. This will allow for fighting at all ranges from kicking to the clinch.

For knife fighting Arnis would be among one of the best arts, although there are others.

BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Juitsu) is a very good form of grappling or gound fighting. However, IMO it relies on chokes and submission moves that take too long to disable your adversary.

I'd go on, but I'm putting myself to sleep.

 No Sir, I doubt Cottage would hire me after some of the reasons I've been in there, this was back home in Hickville.
I've always liked Cop Ju Jitsu, you know with the night stick and all, like on COPS or "The World's Craziest Psychedelic Ninja Police Chases."

K'rav Magá is very good for self defense at a basic, tough level. The mil version is alot more offensive than defensive civ version, and much less commercialised. Civ version is shite, IMO.

Favorite martial arts (the only one I know.. ;) ):
Military close/hand-to-hand combat..
The Norwegian version is actually based a bit on K'rav Magá, and some Kick-boxing (and several other martial arts).
We have taken out the most effective (for our purposes) "moves", and combined them into our own unique close combat form.
It's highly effective, and it's quite easy to learn the basic moves.
I am (was) an instructor in this, and have instructed soldiers in it for some years now.
It does include unarmed combat, and combat with knife/bayonet, sticks, rifles/MP5s, field/folding shovels etc...
(basically everything you may cary with you).
There are no "fancy" kicks/moves, since this is designed to be usefull if you are fatigued and in full combat gear.
It's not wise to use it in the average "bar fight" on a saturday night, since it's only designed to kill or cause serious/critical injuries.
That's why we are very carefull what we teach and to whom we teach it.

I would pay to see that.

I don't know any martial arts, but I rather like jiu jutsu, the way it looks anyways. And Samurai style.
