What would a Tea Party nation look like?
Chip Ward (as an opinion piece (from CBSNEWS.COM)) said:
Imagine a land, let’s call it Glennbeckistan, where white, patriarchal, religiously zealous, Tea Party-type patriots hold a super-majority in both houses of the legislature, sit in the governor’s mansion, and control most local governments. It’s a place so out of sync with the rest of the nation that states’ rights and even secession are always on the agenda. It’s a place where gun-ownership trumps all other rights, climate change is considered an insidious socialist conspiracy, and a miscarriage can be investigated as a potential crime. Welcome to Utah.

Just a few headings from this article:

  • Hot-Tubbing With a Naked Fifteen-Year-Old.
  • Miscarriage Cops.
  • Health Reform and Climate Change Banned.
  • We Don’t Need No Stinkin’ Wolves… or Stinkin’ Rangers Either.
  • Mr. Browning’s Holiday and the Ghost of Patrick Henry.
  • Fightin’ Words!
  • Coming Soon to a Theater Near You.
As the final paragraph of this article said: "Better pay attention: tea-hadi warriors from the Republic of Glennbeckistan could be coming soon to a legislative theater near you." NOUGH SAID.

Probably better than what I'd imagine the Country would look like if Obama perpetrates everything he wants.

Seriously? Bush doubled the debt in 8 years, Obama more than that in less than 2 yrs.
Yeah right .....

Bush doubled the debt by funding 2 wars and giving millions of dollars to the richest Americans .....

Obama spent the money trying to save the economy .. keeping America from tanking worse than in 1929.

Had the economy been good he would have spent the money on increasing govt dependence.

Speculation?? Try complete and UTTER speculation.
Of course, what can you expect from someone named George???

Had the economy been good he would have spent the money on increasing govt dependence.

So you finally acknowledge then that what he did he HAD to do by necessity not by choice. Whew...I'm glad we finally got that settled.

Drivel from the outfield .......

And NOW we await the mindless drivel from the outfield we have come to expect from the Obama 'Tea Party' haters. They spew their hatred without being prompted and mindlessly refuse to give Obama ANY kudos for addressing an economy that was all but in the tank .. NOR .. any acknowledgment that the Health Care Reform Bill, was the best that could be done under the circumstances. The Republicans did everything in their power to try to ensure Obama wouldn't be able to ride the passing of this bill into a second term. Considering the fact that this bill passed because the Democrats passed the bill in spite of the Republicans voting against it en-mass, most Americans have 'something' AGAINST portions of the bill .. but .. IT IS A STEP FORWARD ... not backwards (which failure of the bill passing would have been). The ONLY winner would have been the insurance companies.

Massaging the present bill, making the necessary changes to ensure the cost of health care drops .. will mean that at least 30+ million Americans will benefit from the bill. You might be one of them.

Many Tea Party members don't take this into account (with many other complaints), when they disrupt what could have been a peaceful gathering of people who are looking for answers.

THIS IS WHY I AM 100% AGAINST THE TEA PARTY AND THEIR MINDLESS MEMBERS. No matter what their message is supposed to be, you can't hear the message because of the rhetoric and their mindless screaming.

Volume is NOT a good means of spreading your message ... it is JUST noise.

Tea drinkers vs Kool Aide drinkers.

Really does not matter if we think the Tea Party is a joke or not. As a recent Gallup poll shows,
"Tea Party supporters skew right politically; but demographically, they are generally representative of the public at large. That's the finding of a USA Today/Gallup poll conducted March 26-28, in which 28% of U.S. adults call themselves supporters of the Tea Party movement."

People here on these forums can afford to "hide their head in the sand", but politicians will need listen to this group.

Judging by all the negative comments about politicians on this forum both Democrats and Republicans you may be a Tea Partier and not even know it.

See ....
You misunderstand MY stand on Tea Partiers just like many others.

I AM in favor of 'some' of their political concerns ... HOWEVER ... I AM against the screamed invectives that cover up any possibility that their message(s) will be heard.

I am ALSO against the idea that government's ONLY real job is to pick-up garbage, maintain the roads, man fire stations or run police patrols of our streets/roads. I believe that government can ALSO act as a brake on economic runaway practices in several areas of our economy. Government needs to work in an oversight capacity.

IF THE GOVERNMENT DOESN'T, NOTHING ELSE WILL WORK AS A SUBSTITUTE. Historically, actual facts/precedents show that if it is possible for an industry to be controlled by one small group, IT WILL - which leads to runaway price increases etc, (kind of like the Petroleum Industry today).

My view of government is that of a moderate ... conservative economically but liberal when it comes to such things as Medical Health policies, taking care of the aged, ensuring veterans are taken care of (they earned it), etc.

Personally ... I would like to take a fire hose to 'most' Tea Party extremists. From my perspective however, that probably means MOST of those who show up for the Tea Party political rallies.

BTW ... I WILL NEVER VOTE FOR A TEA PARTIER.
