What type of Navy does North Korea have?

According to CNN.com, the North Korean navy consists of 430 combat vessels, 50 submarines, and 340 support ships. What I want to know is, how strong are those ships? Are they a match with the US Navy?

No match. The submarines are mostly coastal defense midgets, or old Russian diesel attack subs:easy prey for Los Angeles-, Seawolf-, and Virginia-class SSNs. The combat vessels do not include aircraft carriers, and the NKs do not have anything to match the Aegis air defense system. Also, I don't think they have a Marine Corps equivalent, but I may be wrong.

Their navy is pretty much falling apart. So much to the point that using submarines for infiltration into the South has become much riskier for the North Koreans.
Remember the submarine that malfunctioned?
Look at it this way: there is no Navy on earth who can match the US at the moment. Tiny, starving and impoverished North Korea can't even match South Korea, who's navy is pretty poor itself... at least in regard to its other branches of service.
