Back in the late 70's I discovered the Mod scene, genre, and I used to go to gigs almost every week.
A few mod bands have made some comebacks, some because they need the money and some because they enjoy playing music. On a May bank holiday, public holiday, in 1979 an album was recorded called Mods Mayday 79. On this album there were some outstanding bands, some of which have since reformed. For the last 36 years mods and other music lovers have been enjoying mayday watching one of their favourite bands. Two weeks ago I was fortunate enough to get a couple of tickets to go to Mods Mayday 2016 at the iconic 100 club in Oxford street London. Performing were three bands: Squire, The Chords and The Lambrettas. Squire were on the original Mods Mayday 79 album and I have been listening to them, the other two bands above and another band from the original album called Secret Affair. The best thing about these bands are that their music can still relate to people 36 years later in the same way that My Generation by The Who does. I hope you enjoy them as much as I still do.
