A Trumpeter's Lullaby - Leroy Anderson

This version by The Boston Pops orchestra, Trumpet solo by Wynton Marsalis.

Blue Tango - Leroy Anderson

These tunes bring back many memories of my childhood before the days of TV when the ABC used many of Leroy Anderson's pieces as fill ins, whilst waiting for the news. Great stuff!

I have some catching up to do once this computer is "singing" once again.

Sad.....such a sad situation. But I'll make it through alright.

New one? Maybe. We'll see.

Software and I'm sick of it. But for every problem there's a solution. I'll find this one soon enough. Right now I have no audio. No security, nothing.
Hackers probably. Viruses I'm sure of. But it's only a computer and can be replaced. Miss the music and what comes with it.

What version of windows are you running, what AV are you using, and are there symptoms other than having no audio and no security, because if that is all, I doubt that it's anything serious.

(1) Have you tried Restoring your System to a time before the problem arose?

(2) Try running sfc/ scannow from your Command prompt to repair any corrupt Windows System files. Click Start, All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt and type in sfc /scannow and click Enter. Do not stop this process whilst it is still running as it may take a little time.

Have you tried downloading and running,
Avast AV http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download
Spybot http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html,
SuperantiSpyware http://superantispyware.en.softonic.com/

All of these are Freebies and even if they can't fix the damage they will usually remove the bugs or at least let you know exactly what the problem is so that it can be manually disabled.

All that will remain then is to reload any programs or services that may have been corrupted, if sfc /scannow hasn't already done it.

Thanks for the information. Once I have access to "Admin rights".. it may work.

Another obstacle which can be tackled.

You have kids, madam? Have them have a look at it!

From personal experience (I am a Mac man and completely lost with PCs and Windoze) either my kids could fix the Windoze machine we had in the house fairly rapidly, or if not, they had some friends who would jump in and fix it as fast as we fixed the radios of our parents when we were younger.

Just an idea,

Always liked that song, madam, does this mean you can listen to music again? (I had vowed to not post here until you had your problem solved, just out of compassion...)

Anyway, currently listening to stuff I selected and posted elsewhere, a tribute to a singer we lost this month (and no, not Withney Huston, but a legend equally) and whos passing away probably has gone unnoticed in the hype:

Enjoy (or not),
