Prince Rogers Nelson (June 7, 1958 – April 21, 2016).. Godspeed and thanks for the music.

For much of the day it will be a mixture of the New Zealand, Australian national anthems and the Last Post.

It is ANZAC day here.

Back in the late 70's I discovered the Mod scene, genre, and I used to go to gigs almost every week.
A few mod bands have made some comebacks, some because they need the money and some because they enjoy playing music.
On a May bank holiday, public holiday, in 1979 an album was recorded called Mods Mayday 79. On this album there were some outstanding bands, some of which have since reformed. For the last 36 years mods and other music lovers have been enjoying mayday watching one of their favourite bands.
Two weeks ago I was fortunate enough to get a couple of tickets to go to Mods Mayday 2016 at the iconic 100 club in Oxford street London. Performing were three bands: Squire, The Chords and The Lambrettas. Squire were on the original Mods Mayday 79 album and I have been listening to them, the other two bands above and another band from the original album called Secret Affair.
The best thing about these bands are that their music can still relate to people 36 years later in the same way that My Generation by The Who does.
I hope you enjoy them as much as I still do.

Queensman, Thank You!!!
I grew up in New York, learning of great (new) music like that from an underground radio station. Early teens... Considered "on the fringe" for it.
Thanks again!!

Martina McBride "Broken Wings"

She loved him like he was
The last man on Earth
Gave him everything she ever had
He'd break her spirit down
Then come lovin' up on her
Give a little, then take it back

She'd tell him about her dreams
He'd just shoot 'em down
Lord he loved to make her cry
You're crazy for believin'
You'll never leave the ground
He said, Only angels know how to fly

And with a broken wing
She still sings
She keeps an eye on the sky
With a broken wing
She carries her dreams
Man you ought to see her fly

One Sunday morning
She didn't go to church
He wondered why she didn't leave
He went up to the bedroom
Found a note by the window
With the curtains blowin' in the breeze

And with a broken wing
She still sings
She keeps an eye on the sky
With a broken wing
She carries her dreams
Man you ought to see her fly

Cool!
Queensman,
They remind of maybe (in the 2nd video of an Alvin Lee/ with maybe a tad bit of Canned Heat thrown in!!!) Pretty downright amazing!
Thank you!!!
