What Are You Listening To Right Now

Running Lemmongrass currently, being in a bit of "chilled" mood within my current problems, this one will bring back memories for Nam vets from the vid POV (though its a mix of Vietnam, Cambodja and Thailand, fairly recently shot in the O-tiangle):

Sorry for having been absent so long, lots on my back currently.

I have expressed in my testament that I want to listen to this song at my funeral, it will even make *me* cry at that moment.

Only two more are mentioned in my testament as alternatives/supplements, alltogether they perform the right background to go to this better place peacefully:

1. "The Cold Song" (from Henry Purcell's 1691 opera "King Arthur"), preferredly sung by Klaus Nomi

What Power art thou,
Who from below,
Hast made me rise,
Unwillingly and slow,
From beds of everlasting snow!

See'st thou not how stiff,
And wondrous old,
Far unfit to bear the bitter cold.

I can scarcely move,
Or draw my breath,
I can scarcely move,
Or draw my breath.

Let me, let me,
Let me, let me,
Freeze again...
Let me, let me,
Freeze again to death!

2. "Orobroy" by Dorantes, this song about freedom, bulls and horses.

The text is in the Gypsy language "Caló", here translated to English:

Bus junelo a purí golí e men arate sos guillabela duquelando palal gres e berrochí,
prejenelo a Undebé sos bué men orchí callí ta andiar diñelo
andoba suetí rujis pre alangarí.

Translation to English:
Listening to the old voice of my blood that sings and cries remembering centuries of horror,
(then) I feel God who perfumes my soul and (henceforth) I will be going about the world
seeding roses instead of hurt...
Here interpreted by Laura Pirri dancing with one of the horses of Manuel Piruat, trained in the Spanish way to perform free without reins:

Sorry to dissent with the choice of performers:

Nobody ever since has sung it like Fritz Wunderlich: With his clear and bright voice and articulation he was (from my POV, of course) able to produce that "lightness" that should go along with the theme and that I am missing in the before posted version. In fact, everybody else after his performance that I had a chance to listen to (incl. Antonio Iranzo, Humberto Borboa or Richard Tauber, etc) seemed kind of trying to put in too much into the song.

Anyway here goes, this video had been unretrievable for a long time, glad it is back finally:

After two days I guess a double post is ok...? Anyway, here goes what *we* are listening to here, in English (I know we are old farts, but dont worry, you will be one soon also):

"We dont lack money, we have just too many crooks robbing it...."!

Nice song (English, Spanish subtitles) with qualities to make it into the charts anytime (after about 40 secs into the vid):

This song is not attacking any system nor a government, nor a politician, nor a person in detail. It is addressin a general failure.

This song is dedicated from Spain to the world and wants to defend any person who claims a more "human" world and a society that is more just than what we have.

Not every generation has the OPPORTUNITY and the BALLS to write history. WE HAVE BOTH -snip-
Lyrics:

In any other world you could tell the difference
And let it all unfurl into broken remnants
Smile like you mean it and let yourself let go

'Cause it's all in the hands of a bitter, bitter man
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
Take a bow, play the part of a lonely, lonely heart
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
To the world you thought you lived in

I tried to live alone but lonely is so lonely, alone
So human as I am, I had to give up my defenses
So I smiled and tried to mean it to let myself let go

'Cause it's all in the hands of a bitter, bitter man
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
Take a bow, play the part of a lonely, lonely heart
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
To the world you thought you lived in

'Cause it's all in the hands of a bitter, bitter man
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
Take a bow, play the part of a lonely, lonely heart
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
To the world you thought you lived in

Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
Say goodbye

In any other world you could tell the difference
As with all happening here atm its not easy to follow things in detail as everybody does what he can, and chaos is the creative base (no leaders yet), anybody would know the band by any chance?

No idea who the band is Rattler...

A little thought for the moment. Maybe you'll understand.. maybe not.

Hope so though:smil:

Reminded me of this:
Row, row, row your boat,
Gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream

Yep,... thats a beautifully performed piece of music, and I loved it, but I'll see your "Dein ist mein ganzes herz", and raise you "Sous le Dôme Epais (Flower Duet)" by Glenys Fowles and Heather Begg with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra under Richard Bonynge:p
The Flower Duet

I like to think of it as a "Duet for fire sirens" as they sing in much the same key as our local fire siren. I only realised this one day, when it was being played on the radio in the back of the house and I opened the front door thinking I could hear the Fire siren. (It's a mile or so away).
