Wealth Redistribution - I am going to try this.

= allows the employer to pay lower wages by telling the staff, they will make it up in (nearly always unearned) tips.

It is one of those strange false economies you run into around the world though as most of the people I have spoken to about it see it as a way to keep the food prices low and yet in the end they still pay the %15 before they leave.
Personally I don't see the difference between putting $15 on $100 bill and leaving $15 on the table after paying the $100 bill, but it seems to keep them happy.

In every other job it is expected that employees do their absolute best,... or it was "out the door" Or in this case treat the customers like kings, they are the people that keep you employed, no customers,... no job.

Yes but it is possible to see the difference between someone doing the job adequately and someone going out of there way to do the job well or someone putting in the minimum work to pass.

Personally I am still a fan of just paying people a working wage, scraping tipping and factoring the price difference into the product.

Next time you pass a check point, tip the guards. Double if he's a Private.
Let's get this tip thing going. hehe.

Hmmm.. for some reason reminds me of this time when I snuck into a super market as a private, wearing helmet, flak jacket etc. packing a rifle so I could get some bread and stuff for my buddies (I PAID FOR THE STUFF). Got away with it many times but was caught once by a senior NCO of another unit. He thought it was pretty funny and let me off but only because I was a Private and he knew life was hard for us. Man when that guy spotted me I nearly shat myself.

Are you guys really that opposed to the redistribution of wealth? The make it out to be some sort of disease. Black and white, there is no middle way. But check any list on wealth and quality of life and you'll find that the US is not the richest nor is it in the top five.
Check the IMF or just wikipedia.... it's easy. What strikes me is that the richest nations actually do a lot with wealth distribution. Maybe, just maybe there is a correlation between sharing and fighting poverty. Which, now that we touch this subject, is something the US is rapidly gaining a top slot. An increase of 1.1 million Americans joined the 37 million that have to live from less than 9.060 dollar per year!! 45,8 Million Americans don't have a health insurance and this number is rising quickly too.
A financial crisis, and debt to is so unbelieveably large that nobody notices if another zero is added to it and a growing dependence on foreign capital. This sounds like you'll need to redistribute some wealth or you won't have any left.

I have always believed that a country should look after its own people first. Pensions, medical, education, military, industry, employment etc etc (not necessary in that order) before giving aid overseas.

Very true! And if you look at the top 5 donators to the WHO, they are all countries that have high taxes. They redistribute wealth so many can go to universities, have health insurance, sent soldiers abroad and help abroad.
I find it hard to believe that people make it into a black-white issue and that wanting to help is made redundant and ridiculous as some sort of commie-disease. But if you really look at the state the US is in, I can't find any excuse to remain so egoistic and ruin your country in one!

About this "wealth redistribution" gag, conservatives love this old joke but the really funny part is its they that are the real butt of this joke, and whats even better they dont even realize it.

Conservatives too dump Billions on those people that dont work. The difference is that liberals give to the poor who actually need the money (and who DO Work), while the conservatives give away Billions to those who don't work and don't need the help. Its Robin Hood in reverse. They steal from the Middle Class and give to the rich.

Proof? The 2001 AND 2003 taxcuts benefitted the top 1%, the repeal of the Capital Gains Tax benefitted the rich, the repeal of the death tax benefitted the rich, not to mention the bailouts and giveaways in the Hundreds of Billions to corprations. I vaguely remember a recent $700 Billion buyout, those suffering on Wall Street thank you... from the massage table of their $2000 a night hotel suite.

While most people on SS actually have a job (and even 2 jobs), the top tier of beneficiaries of GOP Tax breaks are those who dont actually work...simply because they can afford not to...for the next 200 or so years. So the maxim "giving handouts to people who dont work" applies far more to the rich then to the poor.

So they can laugh and snicker because Obama wants to help the poor, (for the 'Christians' here, I vaguely remember something in the Bible about Jesus telling people to help the poor, and hoarding money as a form of idolatry) but the real SOCIALISTS are those on the conservative end of the aisle.

Both democrats and republicans are for wealth distribution to different people- and they both make me sick. If you want to help the less fortunate you can give to charity, not the government.

No because you get whiney and overly emotional about it. And your very easily offended by anyone who doesn't fawn and faint over your candidate.

There's also something about God helping those who help themselves.;)

The two aren't mutually exclusive. And let me tell you public aid to the poor isn't very much.

Its very hard to help yourself if you got nothing to start with. Trying being at the absolute bottom of American society and see how hard it is to pull yourself up even if you fully motivated and have nothing that might be prejudice against you (race, poverty, illiteracy, illness, disability, addiction, etc).

I believe in distributing wealth to those in need and not asking questions, rather todays situation of distributing to people who don't need it...and not asking questions.

Did you really mean you'd give your money to the needy just because they say they need it or look like they need it? Hey, send me a check - no questions now :pirate2:
