President Bush's approval rating is so low that he seems to be pulling the 2008 Republican presidential candidates down with him, according to a new poll.
Only 28 percent of Americans believe the commander in chief is doing a good job, says a new Newsweek poll.
The number is an all-time low for the president, and a point lower than the result of a Gallup poll recorded for Bush's father at the depth of his presidential popularity.
Also, 55 percent of those polled believe Bush is not politically courageous, and nearly two out of three Americans believe his handling of Iraq show he is "stubborn and unwilling to admit his mistakes."
In other findings of the Newsweek poll, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama beats the leading Republicans by larger margins than any other Democrat.
Obama beats former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, 50 to 43 percent, Arizona Sen. John McCain, 52 to 39 percent, and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, 58 to 29 percent.
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) and former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards also beat all of the Republican candidates, but not as handily.
