why American loss Vietnam war, because USA land force dare not cross 17 longitude to attack North Viertnam base. Only rely on air strike USA coundn't eliminate North Vietnam power, The supply , weapons,armors and foods were continue pour in Vietnam from China.

july 2nd 1967
Operation Buffalo (july 2 - july 14)
1st Battalion 9th Marines

That batallion was ambushed by 500 troop of the North Vietnamese 90thn regiment 1,5 miles NE of Con Thien.
They suffered 84 dead, 190 wounded

Both sides were reinforced.

Total casualties operation Buffalo
USA : 159 KIA , 345 WIA
Vietnam : 1.281 KIA , 2 POW

Wasn't most of the problems associated with the M16 attributed to the ammunition? If I remember correctly cleaning kits weren't issued to troops.

I've read that it jammed a lot and that it needed lots and lots of cleaning. I thought it was because the moving parts got contaminated very easely, but I'm not sure. If I'm not mistaken the special forces uses th M-16 with the H&K system which Colt could also supply but the army wanted the original concept.
