Boeing and Textron filed a protest with the Government Accountability Office challenging the government's selection of three other teams to build a lightweight tactical vehicle to replace the Humvee, company officials said.
The companies claim there were "unintended discrepancies" in how the government rated its bid and that their proposal merited a higher score. It is the second such protest of awards made less than two weeks ago for the program, which could ultimately be worth $20 billion or more. Northrop and its teammate Oshkosh Truck protested last week
The Army on Oct. 29 awarded the vehicle contracts to the teams of General Dynamics and Humvee maker AM General; Lockheed Martin and Armor Holdings, which was bought by BAE Systems last year; and BAE Systems and Navistar International.
Each team received deals worth between $35.9 million and $45 million to begin the second phase of the program.
