Variation on Dog Face Soldier

Found this on another website. This is Viet Nam War era, but very amusing. :D

"The Gunners Battle Hymn" (sung to the tune of "The Dogface Soldier")
is an affirmation of the unit's (161 FA) own special sense of its exclusive worth.

I wouldn't wanna be in tanks or infantry,
I'd rather be a gunner like I am;

I wouldn't change my jungle greens
For Ranger Squadron's cammed--up jeans
For I don't wanna jump out of no plane.

Chorus: And all the posters I read say that Arty is best,
Wearin' me down to put me over the test.

Well I load me a gun, and I come from One-Six-One
And I'm waitin' for whatever comes my way,

So keep up the ammunition,
Keep me on the gun position,
'Cause One-Six-One is okay.

GuyontheRight: Correct, 161 Field Artillery - should have made that more clear.

Acerbus: Correct as well (did you get shorted this Christmas :?: )

I don't quite follow you. My Christmas has been pretty good, sorry if I sounded a bit snappy.

The snappy bit was what I was referring to. Your reply was not your usual polite response. Sorry If I have misinterpreted.

Yeah, I noticed that. Whoops. I just have a habit of being spur of the moment for things like that. It's gotten me in plenty of trouble before

Yeah, I have the same problem.
I have to constantly watch myself and read what I have written BEFORE I send it (and I send a lot of emails - particularly in the last 8 months).
