The USNS Mercy, a 900-foot-long ship with a crew of approximately 1,200 service members and 65 civilians, is scheduled to arrive on Guam May 21, according to a Navy news release. It will take on medical personnel and supplies in support of Pacific Partnership 2008, as part of its four-month humanitarian assistance mission to the Western Pacific and Southeast Asia. Navy personnel on the Mercy will provide medical and dental services to residents of the Philippines, Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, Timor Leste and the Federated States of Micronesia.
