(seriously how many people have sheep pictures on a computer).

You do now, hidden in your cache somewhere. Mwah ha ha ha! :p

Violation of 1st Amendment rights. You should be able to fly any flag you want, with or without the American flag. Hell, I fly a Lithuainian flag sometimes and no one complains that I'm being un-American.

hehe but I promise you it will be cleared with the cache.

Oddly enough I don't agree, the national flag of the country you are in should take pride of place over any other flag, I see no problem with flying another flag along side the national one but not in preference to it.

And how does that make his opinion any more valid than anyone elses?

As I understand it this thread isn't about operations in Afghanistan so his "expertise" is not really relevant and we already know by hie own admission that he is the sort of policeman that upholds the laws he sees as fit to recognise.

Also given our previous discussions on the relevance of judging peoples posts by their profile which is pretty much your MO I find it somewhat hypocritical to be recommending that people "take the time to get to know some people better before you write them off."

Incidently is a 13 star flag considered an official "American flag"?

No, it is not the official United States Flag, as each Star represents a State in the United States of America. Which makes it all the more sad, as the State the Poster lives in who is using said Flag in Protest is not represented by the Flag he flies.

As for BD's Post, in my opinion it is a game he plays, like most of what he does.
I'm a Combat Veteran, and, I have given much of myself for my Nation, and yet all BD does is disrespect me..... and then to add insult to injury, disrespect my Military job by saying that people have been EOD Techs in the Afghan Op without even having to go to EOD School, making EOD a job anyone can do.

I view flying a 13 Star United States Flag in protest of the United States Government as no different than someone taking the United States Flag with the correct amount of Stars and setting it on fire in protest of the United States Government, my view of this will not change.

OK folks, I think it's time for everyone to tone it down. Let's not let this personal tone continue. Keep the discussions to the topic at hand, thanks.

I don't fly the Stars and Bars for other reasons. I support the Confederacy and what it stood for but the Confederacy was not America. The America that I have come to learn and love is the America that was founded by men like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and the millions of Militia Men and Continentals. The America that I love and have fought for have been defended by men such as Teddy Roosevelt, Alvin York, and Audie Murphy.

To me, the 13 Star Flag is symbol of that.

As to answer your questions. Yes, the 13 Star Flag is a legal flag of the USA. It is flown by current government at some locations as a way to say thanks to the brave men and women that fought and died to create this great country.

________________________________________________________________

As for my time in the sandbox, that is in the past. I cannot change my actions from those days All I can do is live my life as a man of honor. I believe that folks that have served just like me have the right to question their actions and the war. If you are against the war you have the legal rights to do so. I will not stand against you, but I will not support you either.

As for immigrants. I am one. I still have love for Cuba. But the Cuba that I love has not existed since January 1st 1959. When I have kids, I want them to know of where they came from. I want them to know that they are Americans not Cubans. Cuba is put a thing of the past. It is where we started but not where we will end.

Does that mean that i will not name my childern with Spanish names. No, I plan to name with Spanish Names. my first son I want to name Mario Antonio Valdes, and if I get a second son I would wish to name him Pablo Antion Valdes.

If the current immigrants want to be part of America, they must stop denoucing it. America is not Mexico, it's not Cuba, it's not China, it's not Ireland, it's not Poland, it's not Russia. It's AMERICA!

And yet by order from President Eisenhower (R) in Executive Order #10834, the 50-Star flag became the Official Flag of the United States of America on 4 July 1960.

That is Official from the Federal Government of the United States of America.

The Betsy Ross flag is still an offical flag of the United States by act of the Second Continental Congress on June 14, 1777.

1777 predates the United States of America.

The 50-Star flag became the Official Flag of the United States of America by order of Executive Order #10834.

I'll point out that Owning other Humans as Slaves was also legal at one time in the United States of America, and yet times change.

I'm looking, perhaps you can help me? Can you offer anything up from the United States Federal Government, which would make the 13 Star Flag the Official United States Flag today?

So confederate flags are still official national flags?
I understand that they are still part of state flags etc. but I didn't realise they could still be considered national flags.

Sometimes, some people in America make up their own perosnal laws for things, and try to punish others for not following their own laws for the things they believe in.

Had it been my call to make I would have killed every person, and I mean every person taking up arms against the United States of America during the Civil War.... but things like that are never my call to make, so it is doubtful it would have been had I lived back then.

While many in the United States of America can say they love the United States of America.... when it comes down to it, fewer actually do.

Note: That was not directed at any Poster here.

Overzealous retribution in post war settings is never a good idea. Would calm er heads prevailed against this sentiment in post WWI there would have never been WWII. The leniency showed by victors goes a long way in preventing future bloodshed.
