ARIFJAN, Kuwait, Nov 1 (AFP) - A US sergeant accused of murdering two
superior officers in Iraq should face a "general court-martial", US Army
investigating officer Colonel Patrick Reinert recommended Tuesday.

Reinert's decision came following a day-long hearing on Monday in which nine
witnesses testified in the murder case.

Staff Sergeant Alberto Martinez of the 42nd Infantry Division is accused of
the premeditated murder of Captain Phillip Esposito and First Lieutenant
Louis Allen in Iraq in a grenade attack last June 7.

A final decision on whether Martinez, 38, will be court-martialed will be
taken by the Commander of Multinational Corps in Iraq Lieutenant General
John Vines in a month's time.
