AP - The killing of three Somali pirates in the dramatic U.S. Navy rescue of a cargo ship captain has sparked concern for other hostages and fears that the stakes have been raised for future hijackings in the lucrative Indian Ocean shipping lane.

Well,... what was the alternative?

The pirates want to make threats, we just let them know that if any killing is done, we will be the ones doing it.

They must be shown that they will not win or else they will milk us dry.

There is only one answer, no negotiation. Those companies that do negotiate should be black balled around the world as supporters of piracy.
 
Agreed 100%.
If you pay them, you are rewarding them. Almost like you're funding terrorism... since both activities can be linked. Imagine terrorists using piracy to fund their operations not unlike how some terrorists in South America use the drug market to fund their own existence.
But either way you can count on getting ransom money if you hijack a Korean ship.
