If course Iran wants the bomb, there is little doubt on that score.

The question is once they have it, what are they going to do with it. Once you look past the hysterics the answer is simple: Nothing at all.

What the Mullahs want is to stay in power most of all. Starting a nuclear war with Israel, Europe or the United States will result into one thing: them being reduced into radioactive ash, -not the best way to start your morning.

Iran giving a nuke to a proxy to use (aka: a terrorist group) would result in the same, France and others nuclear armed countries have been clear on that.

Nuclear explosions do leave markers that can be traced, and scientists can tell where exactly a weapon came from. So if a bomb mysteriously goes off, people will know where it came from.

So Iranian Nuke is whats known as a wooden rifle (a weapon that cannot be used). Iran will try and shake its d**k about being a nuclear armed country but the short of it is that any actual use of such a weapon would result in its own destruction by one of several (or all) countries. A nuclear war is a lose-lose scenario for them.

and the Mullahs know this quite well, they aren't stupid.

The real reason why Iran wants a nuke is so that it keeps its own population scared and angry of a possible NATO attack, rather than them focus on the terrible job Ahmadainejad has done fixing the Iranian economy, lifting the sanctions, restoring Democracy (he's hoping people will forget how he stole the 2008 elections) and other domestic issues that the Iranians are actually quite pissed at their government about.
