U.S. soldier killed, four wounded in Afghan blast

KABUL (Reuters) - One U.S. soldier was killed and four were
wounded by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan, a U.S. military
spokeswoman said on Saturday, the latest casualties in a surge
of violence in the run-up to a September 18 election.
