BAGHDAD - Insurgents killed two US soldiers in Iraq in separate attacks, the
military announced on Wednesday.

One soldier was killed on Tuesday when his vehicle was struck by a roadside
bomb south of Baghdad, while another died Monday of wounds received due to
"enemy action" while operating in the western Al-Anbar province, it said.

The latest fatalities brought the US military's losses in Iraq since the
March 2003 invasion to 2,670, according to an AFP count based on Pentagon
figures.

US Major General Richard Zilmer on Tuesday said that the Anbar province
remains a stiff "challenge" with terror group Al-Qaeda influencing local
groups in their battle against the coalition forces.
