WARSAW, Poland_Two Polish troops and one U.S. soldier were injured Saturday
at their base in Iraq when another U.S. soldier accidentally fired his
weapon, the Polish military said in a statement.
One of the Poles and the injured American were taken to a military hospital
in Baghdad, said Col. Dariusz Kacperczyk, spokesman of the Polish led-force
in the Iraqi city of Diwaniyah, in a statement.
Their injuries were not life-threatening, he said.
Military prosecutors have opened an investigation, the statement said,
giving no further details.
Poland commands a multinational force in central Iraq that includes some 900
Polish troops.
