LONDON, Aug 18, 2006 (AFP) - Two Iraqis have disappeared after following a
training course in the British army and have not been heard of since last
Saturday, the defence ministry said on Friday.
The two men, described as a sergent and a translator, disappeared during
what was described as a "cultural outing" to the Welsh capital Cardiff after
following the three-month course, an army spokesman said.
They both have visas which allow them to stay in Britain to November.
"It could be anything from a night out that went wrong to a pre-planned
attempt to stay in this country and seek asylum," a ministry spokesman said.
The man described as a sergent has a brother in Britain, he said.
The two men had been due to take part on Wednesday in a military parade in
the infantry school in Dering Lines in Wales.
