BAQUBA, Iraq, Oct 25, 2006 (AFP) - A suicide car bomber killed two Iraqi
police in an attack Wednesday in the restive town of Baquba north of
Baghdad, their colleagues said.
The attacker ploughed his vehicle into a police checkpoint and detonated a
bomb, killing two officers and wounding a civilian bystander, police said.
On Sunday, 17 Iraqi police trainees were killed in an ambush near Baquba,
the capital of Diyala province and the heart of a region gripped by
sectarian bloodshed and insurgent attacks on the US-backed government.
