Alright, I apologize for this accidential discharge of a question...
But, what the hell does the white trim mean on a Communist country's vehicles? I understood it a little or at least I thought I did, when watching Soviet Military parades in from the 50s....
But even today, I see Chinese military vehicles for example still sporting white walls and wheel trim on parade?
I am dumbfounded, does it look good? Is there something tying white wheels and tires to Marxism/ Maoism Idealogy that I missed? Does it represent something in the socialists dream? Is it performance enhancing? Is it pyschological warefare? Or morale boosting? Is it painted? Or chalk? Does it smell good?
Is there a special cover piece over the tire that allows for a crew to quickly remove it as to expose the white and ready the military vehicle for a surprise parade?
Or is it just that d;-)mn good looking?
I mean looking at an Type 99 for example with white wheels...I just wonder...
It's a 56 ton fighting machine that fires an 125mm projectile....Not a 1949 Periwinkle blue Chrystler Windsor with a ragtop....
What did I miss?
Anyone here that has served or is serving in a Communist military force, any input is greatly appreciated. I am very interested in getting to the bottom of this.
Heres some examples of what I mean...
Cuban Missile Carriers sporting snazzy white walls and trim.
And of course the Orginal White wall tire trend starters, seen here decorating Soviet armored mobile Launchers.
North Korea doing it's part to keep the trend going
White Walls look great on tanks to.
Even China sports the white wheel bow tie of military vehicles, looks great with borrowed MARPAT camo.:tank:
